Metroid: Power Suit and Modifications
Power Suit
The Chozo were a very powerful and secretive species. Reports from Samus Aran indicate they were very powerful psychics and spent minimal time in our space-time continium, prefering to contemplate the universe by actually projecting their minds into the aether. Their technology was also extremely advanced, resulting in many devices that the most prominent scientists are only now beginning to understand. One of these is Samus Aran's Power Suit. An impressive collection of highly adaptable technological devices, it is possibly the most powerful device currently in possession of any single being in the galaxy, containing weapon systems and capabilities far beyond the latest in the Federation's or Space Pirate's hands. The armor itself has impressive defensive capabilities, combining metal alloys and ceramics into a hardened shell that is reinforced by modulated energy shielding. The shield is drained anytime the wearer would take damage from an external source, resulting in an ablative effect. The shield batteries can be recharged through several means, including special infusers usually used in energizing batteries or generators and absorbing the residual energy of a destroyed enemy.
The suit also includes a Targetting System that acts as a form of guidance for the Arm Cannon. By locking onto a target, the suit can guide the Arm Cannon through careful manipulation of the servo motors in the right arm. That Targetting System also includes a "radar" HUD, allowing the user to know the locations of any hostile targets within 10 meters.
The Chozo also included a remarkable Scanning technology within the suit's Visor. When this system is used, the target is scanned using several methods, all of which create a comprehensive model of the target, including weaknesses or special attack forms and much more. It can also be used to break into almost any known computer system and scan its contents. The results of these scans are kept in a Logbook in the suit's main computer.
Notes: +2 Str die; +2 Agility die; Armor 10; Ablative; Total Life Support; Heightened Senses; Combat Visor (Targetting System) - Awareness, +2 to Shooting; Scanning Visor - Interface (code breaking); if Aim maneuver taken, user learns a target's Weakness(es); Targetting Systems offline while in use
Morph Ball
A highly useful modification, called the Morph Ball, is still a mystery, allowing the wearer to compress themself into a spherical shape and propel oneself by rolling along the ground. Attempts at duplicating the technology have ended badly, with subjects mangled or killed. The Morph Ball is quite handy in getting past obstacles that would normally prevent passage, such as debris. It also can be used to infiltrate areas which could not otherwise be accessed.
Notes: User treated as Small, no effect on Toughness; +2 Pace; all other suit capabilities, except shielding, offline while in Morph Ball mode, with few marked exceptions in the weapons systems.
Spider Ball
This modification adds a magnetic modulator to the Morph Ball technology, allowing the wearer to create an intense magnetic field around themself while in Morph Ball mode. This can be used to adhere to certain magnetic tracks used primarily for cargo transport.
Notes: Wall Walker; Only while in Morph Ball mode and only on certain surfaces.
Morph Ball Boost
The Boost module increases the speed at which the wearer can propel themselves in Morph Ball mode, but only in small bursts of acceleration, or "boosts." This is accomplished by diverting the energy normally reserved for the Arm Cannon into an energy matrix that acts as a sort of combination gyroscope and capacitor, "spinning" the user at a faster rate after a few seconds of charging.
Notes: Pace +4 for 1 rnd; 1 rnd of charging required; Only while in Morph Ball mode
Space Jump
The Space Jump module adds a set of thrusters to the boots of the suit, greatly increasing the distance which the user can jump. The system allows the user to trip a release which fires the boosters after the user has jumped, propelling the user in whatever direction they desire, except downward. This allows the wearer to reach areas that would normall require a form of flight or climbing.
Notes: Leaping 8"
Gravity Suit/Boost
The Gravity module further increases the Power Suit's versatility by allowing freedom of movement in a liquid environment. This is accomplished by a combination of systems, including a modulation of the suit's energy shield that actually creates a "bubble" around the wearer, a back mounted booster and a reconfigured Combat Visor which clears up the visual distortion normally experienced by those underwater by a more efficient gathering of ambient light, much like night vison.
Notes: Aquatic; Leaping 12" only while in a liquid environment
Varia Suit
The Varia addition modulates the suit's energy shield to protect the wearer from intense heat. The energy shield absorbs and dissipates the excess heat into the surrounding environment, keeping the user comfortable even in the hottest environments.
Notes: Acts as a limited Environmental Protection against heat and fire.
